C S Nagaraju
Honorary Visiting Professor, Institute for Social and Economic Change
Prof. C S Nagaraju is currently a freelance consultant after his tenure as Professor of Education in National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), India. During his tenure with NCERT he worked as Professor of Elementary Education (1997-1998), Head of Department of Pre-School & Elementary Education NCERT, New Delhi from 1998 to 2000 and, as Professor and Head of Educational Research & Policy Perspectives, NCERT, New Delhi (2000 to 2006) and Principal, Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Mysore (May 2006-April 2007).
Earlier he worked as Associate Professor in Education, Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore (1981-1997) and also served additionally as Registrar of the Institute for Social and Economic Change (1986 to 1988).
His research work includes study of factors affecting distribution of education in rural India, particularly in Karnataka and also interventions to improve school outcomes in rural small schools.
He was Government of India nominee on three Joint Review Missions of World Bank sponsored District Primary Education Project and three Joint Review Missions of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Education For All movement in India).
He worked as the academic editor of NCERT published Journal-Indian Educational Review (from 2000 to 2006) and academic editor of Indian Educational Abstracts (From 2000 to 2006).
He was also the academic editor of the Sixth Survey of Educational Research in India Vol I published by NCERT (2006).
Currently he is a session faculty and is also a lead advisor to an externally funded project on Quality Improvement Programme of the state government at the Centre for Human Resource Development, Institute for Social & Economic Change, Bangalore.
